Winnie-the-Pooh, by A. A. Milne

Happy 90th birthday, to one of the world's most beloved icons of children's literature, Winnie-the-Pooh!

Since 1926, Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends—Piglet, Owl, Tigger, and the ever doleful Eeyore—have endured as the unforgettable creations of A.A. Milne, who wrote this book for his son, Christopher Robin, and Ernest H. Shepard, who lovingly gave Pooh and his companions shape.

These characters and their stories are timeless treasures of childhood that continue to speak to all of us with the kind of freshness and heart that distinguishes true storytelling.

"Winnie-the-Pooh is a joy; full of solemn idiocies and the sort of jokes one weeps over helplessly, not even knowing why they are so funny, and with it all the real wit and tenderness which alone could create a priceless little masterpiece." Saturday Review, 1926

From the Inside Flap
For the first time ever, these four stories are available in one audio boxed set. Winnie-The-Pooh, The House at Pooh Corner, A Party for Pooh, and Now We Are Six are classic stories of friendship and fantasy, sure to delight children of all ages.

Alan Bennett has the perfect voice for reading the famous and beloved adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh, Christopher Robin, Tigger, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo, Piglet and Eeyore.

In Winnie-the-Pooh, every day is an adventure. Whether Pooh is tracking a wild Woozle with Piglet, finding a tail for Eeyore, or sailing off in Christopher Robin's umbrella, he is always ready to lend a paw to his friends. The House at Pooh Corner continues the adventures of Pooh and his friends, as Pooh Bear and Piglet endeavor to surprise Eeyore with a new house, Tigger tries out a smorgasbord of breakfasts, and more. The third part includes six stories from A Party for Pooh (including "Kanga and Baby Roo Come to the Forest," "Piglet is Entirely Surrounded by Water," "Christopher Robin Gives a Pooh Party," "Tiggers Don't Climb Trees," "Rabbit Has a Busy Day," and "Tigger is Unbounced.") The fourth part of this special BBC production features the wonderful poems from Now We Are Six, beautifully read by Richard Briers and Felicity Kendal.

Replacing my beloved Winnie...
By Lexophelia
When I went away to college many years ago, my mother loaned my "Winnie-the-Pooh"—received on my fifth birthday—to a young co-worker to read to her children. It was never returned. I have been mourning ever since! The fact that this book had everything the original had, except the hardback cover, made it irresistible. I bought it! It did not disappoint. I saw the same dear pictures of the same beloved Pooh in the well-remembered interesting situations with his unique take on matters and his same friends and his companion, Christopher Robin. The book now has joined its mate, "The House at Pooh Corner." My bookcase is no longer missing something. Get this book and read it to your children or give it to them to read, as my mother did me. It cannot be replaced by the Disney Pooh. That Pooh is a whole different animal...trust me. Oh, and lend it to NO ONE. Get them one of their own!

Love, love, love this CD
By Mandie J.
My 5 year old son bought this with his own money after we read the book as a series of bedtime stories. The CD has become much-beloved by both children (and Mama). This IS an abridgment, which was disappointing at first, but the chapters which are included are well done.

We looked for The House At Pooh Corner this year at Christmas time, and were disappointed when we couldn't find it. I bought the Peter Dennis version of the second book instead, but we don't enjoy that one as much (but that's another review) so I'm looking for the BBC Audiobooks version of Pooh Corner again.

Great to Read to Your 2nd Grader
By Kat S
This is a great, classic book! I purchased it for my 2nd grader, and I think it is better as a read-aloud to your child book than one they just read themselves. There are many conversations with characters who have different voices, and it might be confusing to a child who was reading it alone (at least for the first time reading it). My child is not/has never been a Winnie the Pooh fan and was skeptical when I showed her this book, but by chapter 2 she was hooked. The illustrations add a lot for a child who is listening to you read. My child also liked the story about how the book came to be and the REAL Christopher Robin, which I told her just before we started reading this.
