About the Author
Mel Robbins is an award-winning CNN on-air commentator and op-ed writer, a contributing editor to SUCCESS Magazine, best-selling author and one of the most sought-after keynote speakers in America.� She began her career as a criminal defense attorney in New York City, then launched and sold several companies and hosted TV and radio programs for A&E, FOX, Cox Media, and CNN.�

we may not feel like doing it

When there's something tough and out of the ordinary to do, we may not feel like doing it. We never feel like it. It's too difficult, too much, too whatever. Mel Robbins understands this and her 5 Second Rule has been an exciting metacognitive tool that I have been using for months now. Ok. I've dabbled, used it in many situations to great effect, and I've lapsed into old habits too. Like any skill, it takes practice. But, 5-4-3-2-1, I'm really working this rule now! I've wrestled with clinical levels of anxiety and depression for years and this concept has really helped me to reframe my anxious hesitation from neurotic roadblock to normal neurofunctioning. Oh, and by the way, I'm in the book on page 178. Thanks again Mel!!! Keep on keepin' on! #5SecondRule

The 5-Second rule was the catalyst that has helped me change my life. That may sound grandiose, but by using the rule, it makes you take action before your mind takes over and stops you from doing the things you are perfectly capable of doing. Mel has put together a system, and a book now, that really gives you a simple concept, that is easy to implement, and will give you immediate results. Read the book, put the 5-second rule to use, and change your life! Enjoy!

Great theory and full of fluff.

I love the concept of this book. However, it's a very simple idea that was crazy fluffed. Count down from 5 and do something to help you reach your goals. There were tons of testimonials and personal stories, while they drove home the authors points, it also got very tiring. Her point was made without 75% of the material. Again, great concept...great thought, and great book...just too long for the actual message it conveys. Skimming material at best.
